Koozies Not The Simple Little Foam Thingies You Thought They Were

By Joshua Wills

Aussies call them eco holders and the Americans prefer to call them koozies. Even while spelled and pronounced differently, cozies, coozies or koozies can all be simply taken as can or bottle jackets that aim to act as insulators between your hand and the drink. Made usually from Neoprene, the material used to make wetsuits, koozies are especially effective in hot weather when you do not want the heat from your hand to make your drink any warmer, or maybe they are just as effective the other way around too when you dont want the drink in your hand, freezing your fingers off!

There is speculation about their effectiveness; some say Neoprene koozies are the best, other have even introduced thermos koozies that can keep your drink cold for up to three hours! Of course by then your drink may have gone completely flat but stillits cold. There are some varied kinds of koozies available, vinyl ones too, though they are not quite as effective as the others. That is not to say a cheap koozie will not work just as well. There are those made of foam rubber and with their half an inch thick layer of foam keeping the heat off the can, a simple comparative experiment will show you they can be just as effective as the Neoprene ones, if not more.

Apart from their original purpose of insulation, koozies today have become an essential part of the commercial world. Companies offer free koozies as advertising material with their brand names or logos printed over the koozie so it gets attention. Others use them as memorabilia; getting custom koozies printed for an occasion can bring memories back of the event they signified and some others just get custom printed koozies for the cool look of a witty remark printed on it or names printed there.

While you can find koozies in the market, internet has become a marketplace for ordering custom prints on your koozies as well. The regular charges seem to be 40$ but there are those who say less and then send you huge deliver bill to fill and a bill for using more than one printing color to boot. Suffice to say, it is best to read the fine print while ordering online or you can stick to the regular local printers if internet shopping is not up your alley.
